Le Visiteur Online’s Resident P-Funk Expert

Music blog Le Visiteur asked FSQ’s Chuck Da Fonk to talk more about the musical empire that is George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic (aka P-Funk) upon the release of the new FSQ album, “Reprise Reprise Tonight”.

Two 2022 articles are up at Le Visiteur now that detail Chuck’s encyclopedic knowledge of this incredible and legendary funk group, P-Funk, including its 100 plus members and various off shoot bands.

First up, is a tribute mix for Le Visiteur about the tremendous talent, Billy Bass Nelson, who is a key member of Funkadelic side of P-Funk, and contributed to Parliament, The P-Funk All Stars as well as the mid 1970’s work of Motown and other Los Angeles based soul record labels. Here is the mix and jump past the player here to find out more about Billy Bass.

The track list and backgrounder on Billy Bass Nelson, as provided by FSQ’s Chuck Da Fonk is available now at Le Visiteur: levisiteuronline.com/music/billy-bass-nelson-worship-mix-fsq/

Another way to segment the tremendous catalog of the P-Funk universe is to take a look at gender, and in another post for Le Visiteur, Chuck offers up 11 P-Funk selections that are led by women - including releases by the female focused P-Funk groups, Brides of Funkenstein and Parlet - but this chart goes way beyond those two outfits.

Still want more of Le Visiteur x Chuck Da Fonk and P-Funk? Here’s an article from 2019 which uncovers FSQ’s relationship with the world of George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, and the article also carries a 2 hour P-Funk tribute mix which you can listen to right here.
