FSQ Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary
With FSQ co-founder Chuck Da Fonk Fishman recently returning to the San Francisco Bay Area now in November 2023, we thought it would be fun to revisit this video which Soul Clap posted to introduce FSQ to the world in early 2014 with our Soul Clap Records release “Zulu Congo Call”.
It was filmed in 2013 in the Bay, Oakland to be exact, just a bit over 10 years ago, at the time of formation of the Funk Style Quality (FSQ) group. When this video was filmed, it was simply Chuck Da Fonk and producer G Koop (Rob Mandell) who led the FSQ group.
The group expanded that year - joined by Chuck’s P-Funk brother and George Clinton’s nephew, Sa’d “The Hourchild” Ali (RIP) as a partner DJ and producer, along with multi instrumentalists / producers One Era (Matt Coogan) and Chas Bronz (Tate Masimore). Pro audio engineer and keyboard wizard Morgan Wiley joined the group in 2017.
