FSQ Top 10 September 2024 @ Traxsource

FSQ Top 10 September 2024 over Traxsource.

Lou Hayter has a slice of late period new wave - this beautiful cut screams 1986 and she’s right at the top of the chart with this one. Hayter’s precise and sweet vocals are awash in Fairlight-like synth pads and crispy knocking drums that sound right out of a Linn box.

Girls of the Internet are a solid #2 with a soulful house jam featuring Ruti with chimes and vibraphones and lush strings that also draw in a bit of a Northern Soul / Motown vibe. Ruti’s vocals are so warm and lush this song just will send you right into a heavenly cloud.

Our friend Tom Noble’s new House of Spirits project continues to place on our charts, this time with “Please Take Me There” which continues the soulful house vibes we are feeling this month, though this track has a twist of Caribbean disco. Amsterdam’s Makéz gives the already stellar track a nice house shuffle and a bit of a deep downtempo note versus the more traditionally disco leaning original.

Diamond Cafe sounds perfect in a synth laden, boogie funk world cooked up by producer Nick Wisdom who funkifies the original track, which is more of a neo soul ballad. The track “Paradise” (Nicky’s 1Nite Only Dub) is a collaboration Bastard Jazz stalwarts Potatohead People (of which Nick is 1/2 of the group) and Diamond Cafe.

Expect more dramatic synths in the chart this month with instrumentals and dubs by One Half of Bent and Emperor Machine (who charted at #1 last month on our Beatport chart).

Our Soul Clap Records label mate Lyric Jones’s “Better Now” gets a deep and soulful take by Brooklyn’s Ian Wallace.

The rest of the chart is rounded by James Curd and new stunning Balearic by My Friend Dario and Cantoma.

PS I think I forgot to post the FSQ Top 10 Charts July and August 2024 for Traxsource and Beatport so they are here too:
